Update: Summer Paris Food Tours 2024

TL:DR – Paris? Pffft… Not Until September, Mes Amis! Eat Like the French will not run any summer Paris food tours until September but we do have other plans for you.

Alright, food lovers, listen up. You know I’m all about that authentic Parisian nosh – the flaky croissants, the gooey escargot, the crispy crack of a creme brĂ»lĂ©e. But let’s be real: Paris this summer? It’s a hard pass from this chef.

Why, you ask? Two words: Olympic mayhem. The City of Lights is gonna be more like the City of… well, you get the idea. Crowds, chaos, inflated prices – not exactly the vibe for a chilled-out culinary adventure.

Plus, let’s face it, with all the tourists swarming around, the quality of the food scene is bound to take a hit. We’re talking pre-fab croissants, watered-down wine, and escargot that’s seen better days. No thanks!

Finally, it’s really normal for Parisians to leave for the summer, so I’m just dipping out a bit early to have some fun with my friends in Brighton.

I’d rather wait until September, when the crowds have thinned, the prices have dropped, and the real Paris starts to shine again. That’s when we’ll dive into those hidden bistros, rub elbows with the locals in the markets, and discover those off-the-beaten-path gems that make Paris a food lover’s paradise.

But wait… there’s more!

While I won’t be in Paris myself, I’ve got a team of trusty “spies” on the ground, sending me all the juicy details about the Olympic food scene. I’m dying to know if the reality lives up to the hype of their fancy food manifesto.

Not sure about this Fancy Food Manifesto, my first Paris Olympics Food Blog explores it and the challenge facing chef’s in Paris to help you learn more.

đŸ„ș So, I need your help!

If you’re lucky enough to be in Paris this summer, share your food experiences with me! Were you impressed? Disappointed? Did you find any hidden gems? Spill the tea!

And hey, if you hear any behind-the-scenes stories about the Olympic food (like the disaster at Roland Garros that I wrote about here), send them my way. I’m all ears!

FAQ: Should you book a French food tour in Paris?

Honestly? Not this summer. With the Olympics in town, most “Paris food tours” will be overpriced tourist traps. You’ll be herded around with the masses, eating mediocre food and missing out on the true Parisian experience.

What about self-guided food tours?

Now you’re talking! We’ve got a whole section of our site dedicated to self-guided food tours in Paris. These itineraries will lead you to the best local spots, even when the city is overrun with tourists.

So, for now, let’s hold off on those group food tours. But trust me, the wait will be worth it. In the meantime, I’ll be cooking up some Parisian-inspired dishes in my own kitchen. Who’s in for a virtual cooking class? 😉

Bon appétit, and see you in September!
