What to Do in Paris for Foodies in April 2025

Spring in Paris doesn’t whisper—it sizzles. The terraces are filling, the markets are bursting, and the kitchens? Oh, they’re getting cheeky. April is when the city swaps its winter coat for something a little more seductive, and if you’ve got taste buds worth their salt, now’s the time to pay attention. Here’s my guide on what to do in Paris for foodies in April 2025.

Seasonal Flavours in Paris This April

April is that delicious tipping point—when winter’s sturdy root veg make their final appearances, and the markets begin to burst with fresh spring produce. If you’re wondering what to eat in Paris in April, this is your seasonal cheat sheet: what’s new, what’s fading, and what chefs are plating right now.

My Instagram feed is going wild with foraged magnolia blossoms from behind the gates of Paris’s poshest gardens, and Bois de Boulogne is full of wild garlic hunters armed with baskets and ambition. Spring fever is real—and edible.

🌿 Coming Into Season

  • Asparagus
  • Artichokes
  • Leeks
  • Chervil
  • Wild garlic
  • Baby spinach
  • Morell Mushrooms
  • Early strawberries (small, sweet, and sun-kissed)
  • Spring lamb (ideal for roasting with herbs)

🌺 Going Out of Season

  • Cauliflower (use it now for a final, bubbling cauliflower cheese)
  • Celeriac (perfect for silky purée)
  • Raclette (April is your last excuse to indulge—after nine months of aging, the flavour is sublime)

🍽️ On Menus Now

  • Radis Beurre: That cheeky Parisian staple—radishes and salted butter—showing up from bistro to brasserie.
  • Tender Spring Greens: Baby leeks, poached asparagus, and produce that still smells like the earth.
  • Ferments Galore: Pickled turnips, kimchi accents, and house-made krauts making appearances across town—proof the fermentation trend has fully taken root.

Avoid the overpriced tourist traps with sad-looking salade niçoise or croque monsieur reheated into oblivion. Instead, go find the stalls that smell of wet earth and wild garlic—because that’s what Parisians are really eating.

Hidden Gems & Cheap Eats in Paris This April

April is when tender veggies steal the show. At the market, size matters—small means flavour-packed. Think baby leeks, spring carrots, tiny potatoes. All cheap, all magic.

Everyone’s talking about the newly opened 6-90 restaurant, where everything on the menu is 6.90 euros. Is it a gimmick? Maybe. But when prices are skyrocketing and bistros are closing left and right, it’s refreshing to see someone try something different. I’ll be reporting back after a visit.

Also, the Michelin Guide for France drops March 31. Expect celebrations, heartbreak, and a mad rush to book tables at the winners and losers. Stay tuned for my picks.

Paris in April 2025: Chef’s Notes & Market Whispers

I’ve already indulged in my first rosé piscine of the season, sipped on the terrace while soaking up those fleeting golden-hour rays. On the street, Parisians are locked in a seasonal standoff—half in spring jackets, half still clinging to their ski doudounes. But one thing’s certain: the terraces are buzzing. I had a cracking night at ZigZag Bar in the 15th (definitely deserves its spot on my local foodie map—write-up coming soon). Someone’s already devoured three punnets of strawberries this week, and honestly, I respect that level of commitment. Behind the scenes, I’m deep in business planning, debugging blog issues, and rolling out raw, unfiltered insights and my first ever recipe over on Substack.

Market whispers? My butcher is still boasting about having the best lamb in the arrondissement—and to be fair, he might be right. But the real buzz this month is political-meets-pâté: a bit of local drama at the Mairie de Boulogne-Billancourt, where the deputy mayor in charge of gastronomy (and a rather loud food influencer) was abruptly booted from his post. Officially, it’s about defending freedom of the press—a cause I fully support—but the gossip includes tales of mopeds up one-way streets and using public roles to grease the wheels of his influencer agency. If he ever replies to my emails, I’ll let you know what really went down.

What We’ve Been Cooking Up on the Blog

March was a bit of a digital disaster. A sneaky WordPress glitch had me elbows-deep in bug fixing, reformatting, and generally cursing at my screen. But every storm brings fresh content, and we’ve come out swinging with some juicy new posts:

Foodie Cravings April 2025

It’s April in Paris and while the tulips might be flirting with the light, I’m out here in the garden muttering at my mint, begging it to hurry the hell up. My daughter’s already rollerblading around in shorts—shock horror, according to the Parisian maman at the park—and I’ve been chasing every sunbeam like a man possessed, rosé in hand.

The fromager at the market has retired his raclette blade with a flourish, replacing it with that springtime smirk he saves for charming the queue. At home, the thyme is waking up groggily and I’ve just repotted some leggy sunflowers and hopeful little pea shoots. Whether they actually grow or just sit there judging me is another story.

The showers come and go. The rosé flows. The market is calling. And honestly? I know patience is a virtue, and an essential part of great food, but I’m running on fumes and sunshine. I want summer now.

This is the real rhythm of Paris in April: gardens stretching, markets bursting, Parisians oscillating between ski coats and t-shirts, and yours truly caught by his neighbour puffing a cigar and sipping maté in the garden at 5:30am.

Stick around if you’re into that kind of seasonal chaos. The good stuff’s only just beginning.

Food Tour Guide

From the bustling streets of Paris to the heat of a professional kitchen, my life has always revolved around food. A Brit who moved to France at 16, I trained as a chef in a Parisian palace kitchen at 18 and have spent decades cooking, eating, and living like the French.

By day, I run kitchens and events, but Eat Like The French is my side hustle—a way to share my passion for French food through writing and food tours. After a detour into tech recruitment, I returned to what I love most: cooking and storytelling—one dish, one tour, and one bite at a time.
